How It All Began
The Haws story started in 1906, when founder Luther Haws saw children sharing the same tin cup for drinking water in a Berkeley school—a practice that posed serious health risks. Determined to create a safer solution, Luther crafted the first sanitary drinking fountain from a brass bedpost. This invention led to the formation of the Haws Sanitary Drinking Faucet Company in 1909, setting the foundation for a century of innovation.
From Local Roots to Global Reach
Over the decades, Haws grew from a small California manufacturer into a global enterprise. In 1996, the company moved its headquarters to Sparks, Nevada, where it operates a 210,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing facility. Today, Haws has offices and manufacturing sites worldwide, including Switzerland, Singapore, Brazil, India, and Germany—continuing to serve customers in over 80 countries.
