Safe Drinking Water Act

The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) 

First passed in 1974 and reauthorized in 1996, this Act establishes a process which selects and regulates contaminants posing the greatest public health risk.

SDWA compliance requires:

  • Annual public report on contaminants.
  • Source-water projection.
  • Operator certification.
  • Radon/arsenic regulation.
