The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
First passed in 1974 and reauthorized in 1996, this Act establishes a process which selects and regulates contaminants posing the greatest public health risk.
SDWA compliance requires:
- Annual public report on contaminants.
- Source-water projection.
- Operator certification.
- Radon/arsenic regulation.
