Filtration
With a Haws water filter, you can filter ordinary tap water into refreshing, great-tasting drinking water.
Filtration by Haws
The Safe Drinking water Act is the principle law in the United States that ensures safe drinking water for the public. Due to this act you are able to drink the water that comes from your tap without risk of harm. But the act does not go so far as to require that the water be aesthetically pleasing, in terms of taste, odor or clarity.
There is a reasonable expectation that when we turn on our tap our water will be not only be potable, but clear, tasteless, and odorless. But that is sometimes not what we get. Most everyone enjoys the luxury of good tap water, but is it clear, tasteless, and odorless (CTO)?
In order to ensure the CTO requirement that most people prefer you often need point-of-use (POU) filtration. There are a number of options for POU filtration to eliminate CTO issues, but the least expensive and most common method is the use of carbon as the filtration medium. That is where Haws excels!
Haws uses carbon based filtration to:
- remove chlorine
- improve overall taste
- remove unpleasant odors
The result is drinking water that is every bit as good as bottled water and is achieved at a very small fraction of the cost of bottled water.
Carbon filtering uses activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities. This is accomplished in a process called adsorption. Adsorption, not to be confused with absorption, is the accumulation of atoms or molecules on the surface of a material. This process creates a film of the adsorbate on the adsorbent's surface. This type of filtration lasts a long time and offers a very high level of protection from the elements that make tap water unpleasant to drink. When exhausted, it is perfectly safe and acceptable to dispose of carbon filtration media (cartridges) in normal landfills.
Drinking Fountain and Brita® Hydration Station™ Water Filters
Haws has a variety of water filtration solutions available for all drinking fountains, electric water coolers, and hydration stations. Model 6424, designed specifically for hydration stations, provides great tasting, refreshing water and effectively reduces unwanted chlorine tastes and odors. 6424 filters are tested and certified by CSA International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction of chlorine (taste and odor) and against NSF/ANSI Standard 53 for the reduction of lead and cysts. It is a 2,400 gallon capacity carbon block filter cartridge. Model 6426, perfect for drinking fountains, helps reduce lead from incoming water to levels below 15 ppb. The carbon-activated model 6425 filter is a water filter with activated charcoal granules that prevents dirt or sediment from entering drinking stream.
